Join Us for Community BBQ

Come join us on the front lawn of the Kemptville District Hospital (KDH) for a Community BBQ hosted by the Hospital Foundation on September 23, 2023, from 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm.

Enjoy free hotdogs, ice cream, cake and musical entertainment. There will be face painting for the kids and a free bandana for your dog!

At the BBQ, see the fabulous blue Camaro, the Grand Prize for the CT Scanner Lottery. While dreaming about winning the car, enjoy taking selfies with the Camaro and buy your lottery ticket to win it. The more tickets you buy, the better your chances! Give a little - help a lot. The Grand Prize will be drawn October 26.

Your purchase of a lottery ticket will help bring the CT Scanner to Kemptville. This vital piece of diagnostic equipment will be a game changer for our community. It will improve the patient experience, reduce patient waiting and travel time to Ottawa hospitals and help us recruit new physicians at KDH. It is no longer enough for our ER to have just X-ray and Ultrasound capabilities. We need a CT Scanner at KDH to deliver the best patient care close to home and we must raise $2M to make this a reality. Your hospital needs your help.

Mark your calendar to attend the KDH Foundation’s Community BBQ on September 23. Enjoy a fun afternoon for all ages! Buy your CT Scanner Lottery Ticket at the BBQ and help us purchase this critical piece of equipment for our hospital.

In the event of rain, the BBQ will be postponed to September 24.

When Greg Lane heard that there is no funding from the Provincial government to purchase a CT Scanner for the Kemptville District Hospital (KDH), he said he was “gobsmacked!” He first heard about it May 1, 2023, at the North Grenville Community and Economic Development Advisory Committee meeting, of which he is a member.

Joanne Mavis, Executive Director, KDH Foundation spoke at the meeting about the CT Scanner fundraising campaign and the urgent need to raise $2.2 million. She explained that CT Scanners are standards of care and having one at KDH will eliminate patients waiting to be seen after being transferred to an Ottawa hospital via ambulance with a KDH nurse on a 100 km round trip. It will bring better patient care closer to home. Greg recognized that it just makes economic sense to have a CT Scanner in our ever-growing community. He responded to Joanne’s suggestion to act as an ambassador to promote the initiative.

Greg decided to speak to his fellow golfers to see how they could help. He thought if he could help people understand the situation, it would make sense to them, too.

As a member of the Thursday Men’s Night at eQuinelle Golf Club, Kemptville, he regularly participates in the 50/50 ticket draw. For the last 10 years, the group has customarily nominated three worthy charities to share the total seasonal draw. Greg felt that the CT Scanner was a worthy cause from which the whole community could benefit. Why not give the entire amount to the hospital? He “did the ask” and the response was unanimously approved by his fellow golfers.

Recently, Greg and Andy Csiffary, representing the eQuinelle Men’s Golf League, donated $3,180 to the CT Scanner Campaign. They presented a cheque to Joanne Mavis, KDH Foundation Executive Director and Kristy Carriere, Foundation Coordinator, which was gratefully received

Parked on the front lawn of the hospital, the blue Camaro was the featured “guest” at the Kemptville District Hospital (KDH) Foundation Community BBQ on Sept. 23, 2023. It was the first day of Autumn, a beautiful sunny day! Attendees were welcome to sit in the car, take selfies and buy a ticket to win the car and support the campaign to bring a CT Scanner to KDH.

Free hotdogs and cake were provided from the Foundation to thank the community for its support of KDH. Many children enjoyed the face painting and fun swag bags. Annie’s Lemonade generously donated its proceeds to the fundraising event and O’Dell Associates Inc. gave out free frozen treats. Live and recorded music by J.A.M. Productions was greatly appreciated by all the guests. J.A.M. announced it will soon release a CD featuring local musicians, with proceeds to the KDH CT Scanner.

The CT Scanner is a vital diagnostic tool which will bring better patient care, faster care and closer to home care. We need to raise $2.2M. Your local hospital needs YOU to help bring the CT Scanner to Kemptville.

The draw for the Grand Prize is October 26. Buy your ticket today!

3 REASONS YOUR HOSPITAL DESPERATELY NEEDS A CT SCANNER

Better Care.

Patient care has become more complex. Issues may go undetected for too long without a CT scan to support diagnosis.

Faster Care

Waiting for results feels like an eternity when you're in crisis. With an on-site CT scanner, patients can get answers quickly, rather than having to wait and travel to Ottawa for a scan.

Close to Home

Having a CT scan onsite means you can take a 1-minute gurney ride to the diagnostic imaging department.

When you’re sick, being away from home is even harder. Less travel time means you find out what’s wrong with you faster, with your loved ones at your side.

THANK YOU

to our generous sponsors
